when life gives you a goat, paint that shit GOLD

my mom likes to say that when i go thrifting that i don't buy weird things, i buy the really weird things. case in point? a framed goat sculpture. as soon as i saw it i knew i had to buy it, paint it gold, and hang it in our living room... and voila!

since i already had the spraypaint out i decided to transform this ice sign i picked up while living with my landlord's dad (don't ask) and turn it into a life-sized polaroid. shazam!

molly & viki came over today to do a photoshoot in mine & kelly's basement for molly's photography class. we played with lights & the aperture to create what will hopefully be some bomb photos. i can't wait for molly to develop the film on tuesday!

it was also perfect use of the basement that we recently cleaned out. nothing like trying to make the basement more artful and then getting to do a fun project right away. thanks girrrrls.

lately i've been in a funk where if i'm not playing laser tag i'm in bed no later than one. i don't want to blame it on the weather, but something has been keeping me down as of late. after a sketchy interaction last night in our backyard, a bunch of friends came over tonight to search our basement for treasure. a kid dived into our crawlspace to pull out an old empty box. no bling, no drugs, no AK47s, but an old janky box.

i guess what i'm trying to say is i should leave the haus more often and have some of that good ol' human interaction.

tonight was a good craft night. recently my friends and i started a feminist art circle & while it's lacking on the feminist side, the art part is going very well. at one point we had both the livingroom and dining room filled with people, some i didn't know, working on projects. i'm excited in the next coming weeks to start doing it two nights a week (monday/wednesday) and to start incorporating films and discussion & good food. viki made a very unvegan, but oh so delicious quiche and i needle pointed from 6pm to about a halfhour ago. i completed my first real (not practice) needlepoint! i can't upload photos because it's a gift for a friend, but i will make sure to do so after i give it away.

i also took, for the first time since living at the deadbird hornhaus, a nap today in my amazing queen sized bed. lately my sleep schedule has been sleep till 2pm stay awake til 6 am so there hasn't been any real justification to nap. but today i had the perfect reasons: i worked from 9:30-2pm without any coffee. after work, i biked home in the very cold weather and jumped into bed.

i napped & it was good.

tomorrow, i'm going to make a joanne's run for cross-stitching & embroidery materials and weather permitting hangout with my lovely friend kelsey.

everynight is art night when you transform into an 80 year old woman with the body of an 8 year old boy. i enjoy needle point much more than the company of others these days, but that's all right.

goal for tomorrow: leave the haus before dark.

methlab monday consisted of finding a picture to put in this beautiful frame i bought at IKEA sunday night. i scoured my apartment for something and found an x-ray scan of my best friend kelly's insides. what else could i do but nail them to the wall?

i also tried my hand at needlepoint! i would like to thank viki for teaching me the basics. four hours later and i whipped out this baby. i'm most proud of the mustache.

methlab [not so-] monday

here are some past methlab monday projects that i did, but never uploaded:

does abortion = genocide? oh no it doesn't. twice a year some religious freaks come to campus with giant billboards depicting abortions, so to counter protest i made these.

my bedroom's sparedoor ... to the room of requirement inspired by Reminders. What do i require? My Bed! Clean Clothes! Books! and {poof} there they are!
